Government Increases Cocoa Producer Price to $5,040 per Tonne for 2025/2026 Season

JHNews || Accra, August 4, 2025 — The Government of Ghana has announced a 62.58% increase in the producer price of cocoa for the 2025/2026 season, raising the price from US$3,100 to US$5,040 per tonne.
The announcement followed a meeting of the Producer Price Review Committee (PPRC), chaired by the Minister for Agriculture, ahead of the season’s opening on Thursday, August 7, 2025.
According to the Committee, the new price represents 70% of the gross Free-On-Board (FOB) value of US$7,200 per tonne, fulfilling President John Dramani Mahama’s promise to pay cocoa farmers 70% of the FOB price.
In cedi terms, at an average exchange rate of GHS10.25 to the US dollar, the producer price moves from GHS49,600 per tonne to GHS51,660 per tonne, equivalent to GHS3,228.75 per 64-kg bag of cocoa.
Government emphasized that this adjustment reflects a commitment to ensuring cocoa farmers benefit fairly from global market prices. The new rate takes effect August 7, 2025.
