Health Minister Visits Ahanta West Municipal Hospital to Assess Project Status
Ahanta West, March 2025“ The Minister of Health, Hon. Mintah Akandoh, has conducted a working visit to the Ahanta West Municipal Hospital in Bokro, Western Region, to assess the facilitys readiness to serve the public.
The hospital, part of the Agenda 111 initiative, was commissioned under the previous administration as part of efforts to expand healthcare infrastructure nationwide. However, during his visit, Hon. Akandoh expressed concern over the hospitals lack of preparedness at the time of commissioning, stating that it was not yet fit for operation.
I have clear instructions from His Excellency the President to assess all Agenda 111 projects and provide a blueprint on the way forward,he stated.
Evaluation for Full Operationalization
Accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Health, the Minister toured the hospital to evaluate the progress of work and identify key areas requiring intervention. The assessment, he noted, is crucial to developing a strategic plan for the hospitals full completion and operationalization to meet the healthcare needs of Ahanta West and surrounding communities.
When we talk about a hospital being operational, it is not just about brick and mortar. That is why I was requesting to see certain departments. A hospital cannot be commissioned without the necessary medical equipment installed,he stressed.
The visit forms part of the governments broader commitment to ensuring all Agenda 111 hospitals are completed and fully equipped to provide quality healthcare to Ghanaians.
