Accra, November 6 2025 — Former MP for Awutu Senya East and ex-minister, Mavis Hawa Koomson, has responded to the recent report by the Ministry of the Interior on the 2024 election-related violence in Kasoa, saying the findings have vindicated her following years of public allegations and media attacks.

In a statement issued Thursday, Koomson noted that the report concluded the violence was caused by security lapses and institutional failures, not by any direct action or instigation on her part.

“For years, I endured harsh and unfair public attacks. I was branded violent, reckless, and unfit for office through sensational and misleading headlines. Today, the Interior Minister’s findings have vindicated me,” she said.

She extended sympathy to the families affected by the violence and called on the government to fully implement the report’s recommendations — including compensation for victims, better training for police, the adoption of non-lethal crowd-control tools, and limiting military involvement in election operations.
