Hon.Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka further revealed revealed a disturbing security situation in the Bawku enclave, where several police officers have been shot and killed over the past three months over the crisis going on there.
The Minister for the Interior, Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka opened up in Parliament about the growing safety concerns faced by police officers at checkpoints, stressing that withdrawal is not the solution.
He however indicated that he has directed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to replace static checkpoints with armoured vehicles to better protect personnel rather than withdrawing them entirely.
He also urged Members of Parliament to stop pressuring for transfers of officers to big cities like Accra and instead help create a safer environment in conflict-prone communities so security personnel can effectively serve.
