Government Initiates Nationwide SIM Re-Registration Exercise
The Government of Ghana has commenced processes toward a nationwide SIM card re-registration exercise, aimed at strengthening regulatory oversight and enhancing national security.
According to a report by Citi Newsroom, the initiative forms part of broader efforts to update subscriber records, improve data accuracy, and curb fraudulent activities linked to improperly registered SIM cards.
Officials indicate that the exercise will outline clear procedures for mobile network operators and subscribers, with further details expected to guide the public on timelines and registration requirements.
The re-registration process is also expected to reinforce compliance within the telecommunications sector while supporting ongoing measures to combat cybercrime and mobile-related fraud.
Authorities have urged the public to remain attentive to official announcements to ensure full participation once the exercise is formally rolled out nationwide.
