WAEC Releases Provisional Results for Private WASSCE Candidates

Accra, March 28, 2025 – The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the provisional results for 12,452 candidates who sat for the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates – First Series.

According to WAEC, the candidates comprised 5,269 males and 7,998 females. However, 738 registered candidates did not sit for the examination.

Malpractice Cases Detected

WAEC disclosed that it identified cases of malpractice during the examination and marking process. As a result, the subject results of 34 candidates and the entire results of 43 candidates have been withheld pending further investigations.

Performance in Core Subjects

The performance of candidates in the four core subjects varied significantly:

English Language: 43.88% obtained A1-C6, while 22.93% scored F9.

Mathematics: 23.57% secured A1-C6, whereas 52.59% received F9.

Integrated Science: 18.43% attained A1-C6, while 55.36% failed with F9.

Social Studies: 70.62% passed with A1-C6, and 16.88% got F9.

Public Caution Against Fraudsters

WAEC has warned the public to be cautious of scammers who contact candidates, promising to upgrade their results for a fee via mobile money transfers. The Council assured that its results database is secure, and candidates are advised to verify their results only through WAEC’s official channels.
