This information was revealed on the floor of Parliament by the Ranking Member on the Health Committee, Hon. Dr. Ayew Afriyie, on November 25, 2025 during the ongoing debate on the 2026 budget statement presented by the finance minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson when he took his turn on the debate.

The Effiduase-Asokore lawmaker further revealed the closures is as a result of government's failure to pay its GH¢175 million debt to Zipline Ghana.

The allocation of GH¢20 million in the 2026 budget is considered insufficient to cover the outstanding amount.

Hon. Ayew Afriyie added  the decommissioning of the Anum, Sefwi Wiawso and Krachi distribution centers will impact several regions.

These closures he says poses as a significant public health risk due to the centers' role in delivering essential medical supplies to remote areas and will
result in no blood and medicine distribution to the beneficiary regions.
