Angry Youth Torch Kukurantumi Police Station After Suspect’s Death in Custody
JHNews || Violence erupted in Kukurantumi after a detainee’s death in custody, with angry residents burning the local police station. Regional police have launched investigations into the death and the subsequent arson.

Kukurantumi, Eastern Region – September 2025 — Tensions flared late Tuesday night when enraged residents set the Kukurantumi Police Station ablaze following the reported death of a young male suspect while in police custody.
Eyewitnesses say the disturbance began after word spread that the man, arrested earlier in the day, had died under unclear circumstances. Protesters stormed the station, pelting it with stones and eventually igniting parts of the building and nearby police vehicles.
Police reinforcements from the Eastern Regional Command were dispatched to restore order, but not before significant damage was done. Authorities say an investigation has begun into both the cause of death and the arson attack.
