Backlash as ‘Ladies for Ladies’ Transport Service Bans Men in Ghana

JHNews || Accra, August 27, 2025 – A transport initiative branded “Ladies for Ladies” has triggered outrage after announcing that only women can drive and only women can board. No man is allowed.
While the company insists the service is about empowering women and creating safe spaces, critics say it reeks of hypocrisy and discrimination.
“Let’s see if they’ll also call a female mechanic when the car breaks down, when the tires burst, or when the engine fails,” one social media user mocked. Another added: “If they haven’t noticed, in this 21st century women can be just as dangerous as men — some of the most notorious armed robbers today are women.”
Others ridiculed the project’s philosophy of excluding men altogether. “When is a woman without a man?” one critic asked, calling the initiative unrealistic and unsustainable.
The service, which promotes slogans like “Ladies can also drive, and you will be safe,” has sharply divided opinion, with some praising it as a bold feminist step, while others dismiss it as sexist, unsafe, and destined to collapse.
