The decision was announced in court on Tuesday by the Deputy Attorney-General, Dr. Justice Srem-Sai, leading to the case being struck out.

The couple had been standing trial alongside others over their alleged involvement in a deal linked to the national school feeding programme, with accusations of causing financial loss to the state estimated at GH¢78 million.

However, in a dramatic turn of events, the two were re-arrested shortly after their discharge, although authorities have not yet disclosed the reasons behind the fresh action.

The case had previously seen intense legal arguments, particularly over procedural issues, including disputes about witness statements and the composition of the prosecution team.

The latest development has raised questions about the direction of the case, with further details on the re-arrest expected as investigations continue.
