Kennedy Agyapong Extends Lead Over Bawumia in New NPP Delegates Poll – Sanity Africa Survey

A new Sanity Africa Delegates Survey Report, released in October 2025, shows Kennedy Ohene Agyapong tightening his grip on the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer race with 53.1% of delegates’ support up from 51.4% in July.

The report, conducted among NPP delegates nationwide, places Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia second, dropping from 42.2% to 39%, signaling a gradual but notable decline in his backing within the party.

Meanwhile, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, the former Minister for Food and Agriculture, has inched upward from 3.1% to 5%, while Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, former Minister for Education, slipped from 3% to 2%. Former presidential staffer Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong also improved slightly from 0.3% to 0.9%.

Sanity Africa, the research group that accurately predicted Bernard Baidoo’s NDC victory in the Akwatia by-election, says this latest poll reflects growing grassroots confidence in Kennedy Agyapong’s “fearless and relatable” leadership style contrasting sharply with what respondents describe as “elite and disconnected” leadership from the establishment.

The survey further suggests that Agyapong’s populist appeal continues to resonate among delegates frustrated with the current party hierarchy and economic challenges under the NPP government.
