Accra, Ghana“ March 12, 2025: The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has unveiled plans to revamp the Ghana Cylinder Manufacturing Company (GCMC) in a strategic effort to boost production capacity and efficiency.

At a high-level meeting chaired by Energy and Green Transition Minister, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, key stakeholders, including the Ghana National Gas Company (Ghana Gas) and Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB), discussed a collaborative approach to restoring GCMC to full operational strength.

Hon. Jinapor highlighted GCMCs potential to drive local manufacturing and support Ghanas clean energy agenda, emphasizing the urgent need to modernize production and position the company as a leading LPG cylinder manufacturer for both domestic and industrial markets.

As part of the revitalization efforts, the Ministry has set up a committee to draft a detailed roadmap for cabinet approval. Upon endorsement, a Joint Project Implementation Committee”comprising representatives from the Ministry of Energy, Ghana Gas, GCMC, and the Ministry of Finance ”will be tasked with overseeing the execution of the transformation plan.

The meeting was attended by key industry figures, including Mr. Abdul-Rahman Mankir, Acting Managing Director of GCMC; Madam Judith Blay, Acting CEO of Ghana Gas; Dr. Robert Lartey, Deputy CEO of Ghana Gas; and Alhaj Farihan Alhassan, Managing Director of GCB, alongside officials from the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition.

This initiative reinforces the Ministry's commitment to strengthening local manufacturing, enhancing energy security, and driving sustainable industrial growth in Ghana.
