NCA Suspends Operations of Nine Radio Stations Over Regulatory Breaches

JHNews || Accra, 12th August 2025 – The National Communications Authority (NCA) has announced the suspension of operations for nine (9) radio stations across Ghana, citing multiple infractions against broadcasting regulations.

The suspension follows the expiration of a 30-day grace period granted by the President of the Republic, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, for defaulting stations to rectify breaches of FM broadcasting laws.

According to the NCA, six (6) of the affected stations failed, refused, or neglected to comply with the regulatory amnesty. These include:

  1. Donplus Multimedia Limited – 105.9 MHz (Ho)
  2. Dreams Ghana Media Limited – 104.9 MHz (New Abirem)
  3. Jam Multimedia Limited – 101.3 MHz (Kintampo)
  4. Jewel Group Limited – 102.7 MHz (Duayaw Nkwanta)
  5. Kpandai Star Community Radio – 107.3 MHz (Kpandai)
  6. Unique Gateway Communication Limited – 105.7 MHz (Nkawkaw)

Additionally, three (3) other stations operated by Wontumi Multimedia Company Limited were suspended for failing to address some breaches, including unauthorized use of Studio-to-Transmitter Link (STL) frequencies and unapproved transmitter locations. The suspended Wontumi stations are:

  • 95.9 MHz (Accra)
  • 101.3 MHz (Kumasi)
  • 101.3 MHz (Takoradi)

The NCA stated that these actions were taken in line with Regulation 54 of the Electronic Communications Regulations, 2011, L.I. 1991, and pledged to continue monitoring Ghana’s broadcasting sector to ensure full compliance with licensing and operational requirements.
