Police Officer Arrested Over Alleged MoMo Robberies in Kumasi
Kumasi — A police officer, Inspector Bright Appiah Danquah, has been arrested alongside three other suspects over alleged involvement in a series of armed robberies targeting mobile money (MoMo) vendors in Kumasi and surrounding areas.
According to reports, the officer, who was stationed at Abuakwa, is suspected to have robbed a MoMo vendor of GH¢38,600 at gunpoint.
In a dramatic twist, he allegedly left his mobile phone at the crime scene. He later reported to a police station to claim the phone had been stolen, only to encounter the same victim who had come to lodge a complaint about the robbery.
The development led to his arrest, along with three accomplices, as investigations into the case continue.
The incident has sparked public concern, particularly due to the involvement of a law enforcement officer in criminal activity. Authorities are expected to provide further updates as the case progresses.
