Police Arrest 13 in Intelligence-Led Crackdown on Crime in Senya Beraku
JHNews || Thirteen suspects have been arrested in Senya Beraku following a coordinated police operation targeting drug-related and other criminal activities, with investigations ongoing as authorities intensify efforts to restore safety in the area.
Senya Beraku, Central Region — December 17, 2025:
The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested thirteen suspected criminals following an intelligence-led operation across three locations in the Senya Beraku enclave aimed at clamping down on criminal activities.
The operation began at Kukwado, a coastal community, where six suspects were arrested with substances suspected to be Indian hemp and other related items. The police team later moved to a yellow house near a cemetery, where four additional suspects, including a female, were arrested. Items retrieved at the location included dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, locally distilled gin known as akpeteshie (laka), a 32-inch television set, and various brands of cigarettes.
The final stop was Awiaso, where three suspects, including a female, were arrested. Exhibits found at the scene included dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, a toy gun, shisha, local gin, and a game pot. Police subsequently destroyed the suspected criminal hideouts at the location.
The thirteen suspects arrested were identified as Michael Essel (23), Frederick Koranteng (23), James Essel (24), Jones Koranteng (20), Daniel Essibu (30), Kofi Abbiw (28), Kofi Essibu (57), Klotey Poree (26), Bismark Sarbeng (26), Kojo Otoo (24), Thomas Quartey (22), Gladys Jackson (19), and Florence Adenue (25).
Police say all suspects and exhibits are currently in custody as investigations continue.
