Abronye DC Granted GH¢50,000 Bail After Week-Long Detention

JHNews || Accra, September 15, 2025 — Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC and Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has been granted GH¢50,000 bail by the Accra Circuit Court after spending a week in police custody.
Abronye was arrested on September 8 and charged with breach of the peace and publication of false news, an incident that sparked public debate and accusations of political interference.
His lawyers argued that his worsening health condition warranted bail, which the court approved without objection.
Supporters say the decision reflects growing pressure from civil society groups and members of the NPP who had criticized his extended detention.
