Dr. Kwame Nkrumah Remains Ghana's True Founder - Delali Sewoekpor
Delali Sewoekpor of the NDC stated on Citi TV’s Breakfast Daily that Dr. Kwame Nkrumah is Ghana’s true founder and his legacy cannot be erased. He accused the NPP of repeatedly trying to downplay Nkrumah’s achievements and portraying him as anti-democratic, despite historical evidence of multiple assassination attempts against him. Sewoekpor urged the NPP to acknowledge Nkrumah’s pivotal role, noting the remarks came on Ghana’s Founder’s Day, which honors Nkrumah’s contribution to independence.

Member of the Communication Team for the National Democratic Party (NDC), Delali Sewoekpor, has indicated that Dr. Kwame Nkrumah remains Ghana's true founder and that nobody can eradicate his name and achievements.
Speaking as a panelist on Citi TV's Breakfast Daily Show, he argued that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had always tried to undervalue the accomplishments and the significant role played by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah in Ghana's independence.
''Over the years, anytime the NPP had the opportunity to rule this country, you would realize that there is a deliberate attempt to obliterate, to undermine the achievement and the role of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah''.
Sewoekpor posited that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) should come to terms with the fact that nobody can eradicate the name, accomplishments, and the role Dr. Kwame Nkrumah played as the founder of the country.
''I think by now the NPP as a political party, with their tradition, must come to appreciate the fact that nobody can obliterate the name of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah as the founder of this country of ours''.
He accused the hierarchy within the party of having, through the years, described Dr. Kwame Nkrumah as a tyrant who doesn't believe in democracy. Yet, there were stories about multiple assassination attempts on him.
''Over the years, when you hear most of the stewards within the NPP, when they make comments, when they make statements relative to Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, at a point, they create an impression to make it look like he was a dictator, they create an impression to people that this is a man who didn't believe in democracy. However, the fact of the matter is that we have also read about his story, where several attempts were made on the life of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. We have read several articles where there was a deliberate orchestration to kill Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
Today, September 22, 2025, is Founder's Day in Ghana, which is celebrated as a holiday in honor of the first President of the country, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, who played a significant role in aiding the independence of the country.
