MP Osei Nyarko to A Plus: Withdraw “Ill-Informed” Petition Against PAC Chair Abena Osei-Asare
Kennedy Osei Nyarko

Accra, November 5 2025 — The Member of Parliament for Akim Swedru, Kennedy Osei Nyarko, has publicly criticised his colleague, Kwame Asare Obeng (popularly known as “A Plus”), for submitting a petition to the Speaker seeking the removal of Abena Osei‑Asare as Chairperson of the Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC).The crux of Nyarko’s argument: A Plus’ petition is procedurally flawed and lacks a proper basis under Parliament’s Standing Orders. He insists that only the Committee of Selection and the party caucuses can alter committee leadership not the Speaker.
Nyarko warned A Plus that his petition is "dead on arrival" and may cause embarrassment if not retracted promptly. He urged A Plus to “withdraw the ill-informed petition” to avoid undermining parliamentary integrity.
