NSMQ 2025 Launch Postponed Amid Funding Dispute Between CHASS and GES

Organizers of the National Science & Math Quiz (NSMQ) have announced a temporary postponement of the 2025 edition following a standoff between the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) and the Ghana Education Service (GES) over delays in releasing funds for extracurricular activities.

In a statement issued today, the NSMQ Secretariat explained that both CHASS and GES are currently engaged in urgent dialogue to resolve the funding impasse that has disrupted preparations for the nationwide competition.

The organizers expressed optimism that the matter would soon be resolved, assuring participating schools that the contest would begin as soon as funds are released.

“We kindly ask that you do not break camp but continue training your teams. We shall communicate updated arrangements once we receive the go-ahead,” the statement read.

The postponement has sparked frustration among schools and contestants who have been in intense preparation for months.
