Turkish Firm Synergy to Establish Solar Panel Manufacturing Plant in Ghana

Accra, Ghana" Turkish energy company Synergy Co. Ltd. has announced its intention to invest in Ghanas renewable energy sector by setting up a manufacturing plant to produce solar panels and smart meters locally.

The company, which has been in the energy industry for 48 years, revealed its plans during a meeting on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, with Ghana's Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor. The discussions align with the governments agenda to expand solar energy adoption and improve energy efficiency in the country.

Major Highlights of Synergy's s Investment Plans:

Local Manufacturing: Synergy plans to produce all its solar panels and smart meters in Ghana, reducing reliance on imports and boosting the local economy.

Production Capacity: The firm estimates an annual production of up to 12 million electrical meters, equipped with tamper-proof technology to curb energy losses and improve efficiency in electricity distribution.

Training School: As part of its commitment to capacity building, Synergy has proposed the establishment of a training school to equip Ghanaians with skills in solar panel and meter production.

Job Creation & Skills Development: The initiative is expected to create employment opportunities and strengthen Ghana's s renewable energy manufacturing sector.

Government Collaboration: The company has requested government support in offtaking its products and integrating them into the national energy system.

Hon. John Jinapor welcomed Synergys investment, commending its commitment to local production and human capital development. He assured the company of the government's readiness to collaborate, emphasizing that local content, job creation, and sustainability remain key priorities in Ghana's green energy transition.
