We Want A Society That Treats Everyone Equal - Darkoa Newman

JHNews || Former Member of Parliament for Okaikwei South Constituency, Darkoa Newman, has indicated that the reason for the party’s demonstration (NPP) is to fight for a society that treats everyone equally.
According to her, all they seek to achieve with the ongoing demonstration is a nation that serves everyone equally, stating that the demonstration is about equity and not abuse.
Speaking to the media, she noted that the law should apply to both government officials and those in opposition equally without any bias.
“We just want a fair and just society, that’s it. A society that treats everybody equally. It doesn’t have a different law for some in government and a different law for those in opposition. That’s all we are here for.”
Commenting on the issue of politics of insults, she used herself as an example of someone who practices politics devoid of abuse. She stressed further that people have different ways of doing politics and that is the reason the leadership within the party has put mechanisms in place to deal with issues surrounding politics of insults, and to keep political discussion free of disrespectful comments.
“I’m sure you have followed my politics over a period of time. On what occasion have you seen me insult or say anything derogatory? Politics is different for everyone. The leadership has done what they can; we’ve cautioned all party members to ensure that the debate is devoid of insults, and so we will continue to do that.”
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is currently embarking on a demonstration dubbed “Yen Suro Ahunahuna,” which aims to send a strong message against what they describe as intimidation, political harassment, and injustice by the NDC government.
