NDC Primaries ongoing in Tamale Central
The NDC is holding primaries today in Tamale Central to elect a new parliamentary candidate after the death of the constituency’s MP. Twelve candidates are in the race, with voting scheduled between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. under tight security.

JHNews || Tamale, September 6, 2025 – Voting is currently underway in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primaries for the Tamale Central constituency, following the tragic death of the sitting Member of Parliament in a helicopter crash.
Twelve aspirants are contesting the internal election, including academics, lawyers, and business leaders, all vying for the opportunity to represent the party in the upcoming by-election.
The polls opened at 7:00 a.m. and will close at 5:00 p.m., with delegates expected to turn out in large numbers to select a successor. The contest is being closely watched, given Tamale Central’s strategic role in Northern politics and the NDC’s dominance in the region.
