President Mahama has commissioned 18 new Ghanaian Envoys to various countries and international bodies, urging them to uphold integrity, promote trade, and advance Ghana’s Reset Agenda, while the diplomats pledged to put Ghana first in their mandates.

JHNews || Accra, September 4, 2025 — President John Dramani Mahama has officially commissioned eighteen (18) newly appointed Envoys of Ghana at a swearing-in ceremony held at Jubilee House, in line with Article 74(1) of the Constitution.

The appointments include key postings to strategic countries and multilateral institutions. Among them are Mrs. Sabah Zita Benson as High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Mr. Victor Emmanuel Smith as Ambassador to the United States of America, Ms. Mavis Ama Frimpong to France, Mr. Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed to Nigeria, and Mr. Kojo Bonsu to China. Others include Prof. Ohene Adjei to Germany, Alhaji Abdul Nasiru-Deen to Türkiye, and His Excellency Samuel Yao Kumah as Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York.

In his address, President Mahama described the appointments as a mark of confidence in the Envoys’ years of dedicated service to Ghana. He urged them to demonstrate accountability, integrity, and prudent management of public resources while advancing Ghana’s “Reset Agenda” for inclusive development.

He charged the diplomats to strengthen bilateral relations, forge strategic partnerships, and promote trade and investment as part of Ghana’s economic diplomacy efforts.

Speaking on behalf of the newly appointed Envoys, Ambassador-designate to the United States, Mr. Victor Emmanuel Smith, expressed gratitude to the President and pledged the Envoys’ commitment to uphold Ghana’s diplomatic ideals and prioritize national development in their assignments.

The ceremony was attended by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, Minister for Foreign Affairs Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Deputy Minister James Gyakye Quayson, Presidential Advisor Joyce Bawah Mogtari, National Chief Imam Sheikh Osuman Nuhu Sharubutu, and senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
