Trade Minister Visits Zonda-Tech Ghana Limited Assembly Plant in Tema

The Minister for Trade, Industry, and Agribusiness, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, visited the Zonda-Tech Ghana Limited assembly plant in Tema. The visit aimed to familiarize herself with the company's operations and to engage with CEO Yang Yang on strategies to further enhance the local automotive industry. 

During her visit, Hon. Ofosu-Adjare commended Zonda-Tech for its significant contributions to Ghana's industrialization, particularly in the heavy-duty vehicle sector. She emphasized the importance of investing in the development of local technicians through overseas training programs and advocated for the sourcing of local components to bolster the domestic supply chain. According to the Minister, such initiatives would not only strengthen the company's competitiveness but also position Zonda-Tech to capitalize on opportunities within the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) by meeting the necessary rules of origin requirements.

CEO Yang Yang expressed appreciation for the Minister's support and reiterated the company's commitment to enhancing its operations in Ghana. She highlighted the establishment of a training center aimed at equipping Ghanaian engineers and technicians with the requisite skills in vehicle assembly and maintenance. Yang Yang also noted the company's efforts to integrate local content into its production processes, aligning with the government's objectives to promote local manufacturing and reduce import dependency.
